What Is Page Rank?

Page Rank is a Stanford University trademark. The Page Rank sytem, developed at Stanford by Larry Page became the fundamental measuring algorithm for the Google search engine.

As one of Google's major measuring deveices, it is used in combination with numerous other factors when determining the return order for a group of related documents (based on search criteria).

How important is it to get a great PR score? Ha! Not nearly as important as listing as high as possible for your keywords.

One of our clients came to us with a PR 5 web site and little traffic to speak of. Using Google, Yahoo and MSN, we were able to find only 6 top 500 listings for their keywords. PR 5 was useless to them.

Contrast that with a client who has top 10 listings for about 80% of her keywords and a PR of 0.
